WE ARE THIS FAIR TOWN, THIS GATESHEAD, THE NORTH EAST
Take a walk through Gateshead listening to specially commissioned audio plays from North East writers that respond to a sense of journeying, place and wanderlust. Experience an audio video installation exploring the emotions and pleasure involved with walking. A multi platform project that invites us to spend time alone, engage with Gateshead and find our own sense of belonging within it.

Individual plays written by Lee Mattinson, Paddy Campbell, Amy Mackelden, Chloe Daykin & Darren Carlow

"Wanderlust, was a beautifully orchestrated and delicately delivered multi-platform art work that incorporated an audio walking experience, with a video installation. Encounter worked to bring together a number of artists from across the North East and further afield including writers, performers, video makers and illustrators, and adopted a truly interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to the their working method which was both ambitious in scale, and refreshing in design. The piece, Wanderlust, was extremely well received, and allowed festival audiences the opportunity  to experience audio walking plays accompanied by a beautifully illustrated map of the area, leading audiences on solitary, contemplative walks to spaces and areas that they may not have otherwise encountered."
